Opening Reception

December 9th 2016 5:30pm-9pm- 530 Burns Gallery, 530 Burns Lane, Sarasota, Florida

530 Burns Gallery is pleased to present “Splendor of Sarasota,” a group exhibition featuring work inspired and created by the gallery’s artists of Sarasota. The show will run from December 7th 2016 through January 10th 2017 with an opening reception Friday, December 9th from 5:30p.m. until 9:30p.m.

The show features the work of artists Linda Richichi, Katie Cassidy, Bettina Sego, and Bill Mills and jewelry designers Nikki Sedacca, Chris Bales and Dale Sprintz.

Sarasota’s active arts community, perfect weather, and impeccable land and seascape provide a setting for local artists to gather inspiration and excel in their fields. From the artist’s hands to the gallery walls, each contemporary work inspires a fresh perspective on Sarasota’s iconic scenery.

Artist Katie Cassidy transforms the coastal sky and landscape. She received her BFA from Kean College. In following her passion for oil painting, she found sanctuary in Sarasota, where she captures its tranquility and provokes a sense of comfort and joy to the viewer.

530 Burns Gallery’s current artist in residence, Linda Richichi, received her degree in fine arts from SUNY New Paltz, and spent many years training under modern masters such as John P. Osborne. Known for painting en plein air, Richichi says, “It is the energy I feel out in nature that I try to bring to each work of art. I capture that feeling through line, movement, and color.”

In contrast to Richichi’s representational paintings, Bettina Sego’s multimedia abstractions morph nature. Sego moved to Sarasota in 2000. She was captivated by the allure of Sarasota’s intense sunlight, shimmering reflections, and hues of blue and green and seeks to capture is essence and vibrancy in her work.

Nikki Sedacca, jewelry designer and co-owner of 530 Burns Gallery, juxtaposes luster, texture and shape in her art jewelry. Her signature wirework in sterling silver and 18k gold combines with nature’s treasures—pearls, semi-precious stones, and coral– to create tantalizing texture with an uplifting sense of style.  With the continuation of a successful 30-year career, Sedacca is pleased to use the gallery space to show the jewelry of local designer Chris Bales. She uses unique colored gemstones, pearls, fossils, shells and beads to create timeless silver bracelets, silver pendants, silver necklaces and silver earrings.
