Working with architectural references from all over the world he is fascinated by the bonds that we have with our surroundings. He is continuously exploring our interactions with architecture, both classical and modern structures, and how our own emotions influence our responses. “I try and distill from the architectural scene a small section which to me defines the whole space. It is these cropped sections that hold the emotional content.”
Through many thin layers of oil he pays homage to the Dutch and Flemish masters, especially Rembrandt; who could spend up to five years developing a painting, allowing the image to emerge slowly.
Travel abroad has allowed him to explore these spaces personally and allow their unique and individual moods to dictate the paintings.
